Two Day Legal Awareness Programme At Wos
Punjab State Commission for Women in collaboration with National Commission for Women, New Delhi organized two days Legal Awareness Programme at Woodland Overseas School on Monday, 9th September and Tuesday, 10th September 2019.
The agenda of the seminar was to create awareness among audiences on important issues like Dowry Prohibition Act, Domestic Violence Act, Hindu Marriage Act, POCSO, IPC 354 ABCDEF, 509, 376 and harassment of women at work place.
Guest of Honour was erudite Mrs. Sucheta, Hon’ble Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary, District Legal Services Hoshiarpur. The occasion was also graced with the benign presence of established Speakers i.e. Mrs. Manjeet Kaur, SP, Narcotics Department, Mr. Jagdish Raj, DSP Hoshiarpur, Ms. Priyanka, Professor in Law Department Rayat Bahra and Ms. Arti Sharma & Ms. Harjot Kaur who are serving society at renowned lawyers. Mrs. Kiranpreet Kaur Dhami, member of Punjab State Commission for Women lead the Programme.
Dean Dr. Simerjeet Kaur appreciated the efforts of Mrs. Sucheta who possesses dint of sterling qualities in rendering selfless yeoman service in the arena of Judicial Administration and applauded her for successfully handling legal cases at National and International Level. She expressed her concern that it is a pity that in 21st century, women who play pivotal role in all walks of life are portrayed as weaker sex, gullible and subject of desire who are easily subjugated and ruled by male chauvinist mind set who think that they have a right to outrage her modesty.
